Humber Music Education Conference 2026
Thank you for attending our 2026 Conference.
We welcomed over 170 delegates to our first regional music education conference on the 10th September at the University of Hull.
Staff from music services, primary and secondary schools from Hull, East Riding, North and North East Lincolnshire took part in a day of inspiring and practical sessions.
The day started with a Keynote from Simon Toyne on the future of music in the curriculum before break out sessions led by Rebecca Berkley, Jimmy Rotherham, Paul Harris, Kit Massey and our own music service teachers. Sessions were musically focused and practical, giving teachers ideas to take straight back to their lessons as well as the chance to share practice and network with other staff throughout the day.
We were also treated to performances throughout the day showcasing a wide range of activity in our region. We started the day with breathtaking performances from Humber Taiko, followed by Maybury Primary School Brass band – already sounding great at the start of term and finished the day with the East Riding Music Service Brass and percussion ensemble.
These performances demonstrated the range of opportunities available to young people in our region as well as showcasing the progress young musicians make as part of group and ensemble music making.
We are already planning next year’s conference and value your feedback in shaping this event.
